IMPORTANT - DOBERMAN CARDIAC STUDY INFORMATION
NOTICE - DOBERMAN CHRONIC ACTIVE HEPATITIS STUDY
Note: I'm sorry if some of these listings are out of date. I ask people to let me know once the dogs are adopted. They usually don't. I don't always have time to keep tracking them down.
New:
Lucy - 8 year old, black, spayed female.
Lucy's description from the shelter reads: Very sweet girl who loves attention - looking forward to lots of exercise & owners who are familiar with the breed. Good with children & other dogs. May require medication for ears and for help with incontinence. Well trained.
Contact: Guelph Humane Society (519) 824 - 3091
Ongoing:
Bowser - 4 year old, black, neutered male.
The shelter's description reads: I am a 4 year old Doberman. I originally came to the OSPCA in 2006 through the Investigations department because I was chained up outside an apartment building with no shelter or human contact and getting food tossed at me through a window. I was adopted out and then returned a year later because I could not keep weight on and I was not learning about house breaking. Since I've been back at the shelter I have put some weight on, althoug it has not been easy. I am slowly improving at going to the washroom outside, but I do still have a long way to go. All this can be managed in the right home. I've got a great and lovable personality so I'm well worth the effort! To learn more about me please come to the shelter and speak to the staff.

Phoenix - adult, black, neutered male.
The rescue group describes him: We have just taken Phoenix from the shelter and placed him into a foster home. We are so very grateful that the Oshawa shelter was able to care for him and hold him until a foster home could be found. Phoenix is very happy to be out of the shelter! He’s enjoying his runs in our park, but what he really enjoys is spending time with people. He would be best suited to an adult home or a home with older children. More information will become available as his foster home as time to assess him.

Harley - 4 year old, neutered, blue male with colour dilution alopecia. Docked tail, uncropped ears. You've seen Harley here before. He was placed, and now the new family is looking to re-home him.
This was the original description:
Harley's family moved from a home to a small apartment, which has been difficult for Harley. His behaviour has really changed since moving to
the apartment. He's doing his job by barking at noises he hears in the
hallways and outside the window but this is bothering other tenants and the super.
Barking at night is waking the owner as well.
Harley is said to love hugs and kisses, cheese, plastic water bottles, a soft couch to sleep on, sleeping on the bed with his owner, chasing cars
and showers. Harley doesn't like baths, apartment living, or being alone
for long periods of time (sometimes becomes anxious). He may not be good with children.
The new owners say that Harley's separation anxiety is more than they can handle. He damages door knobs, doors, walls, etc when left alone and they say he can not be crated. They say he's very protective of the family. They have to put him outside and then let people in and introduce him after, otherwise he barks and lunges at them. Other than that they say he's a great dog, they say he gets along with kids, cats, other dogs.
I just
noticed that Harley is now at Mississauga Humane. Contact John at (905)

ADOPTION FEE: $250.
Mookie - 14 month old, neutered, black male. Docked tail, uncropped ears. Weighs just under 90 pounds and will weigh more before he is finished growing. You've seen Mookie here before. His owner had decided to keep him but apparently changed her mind again.
He is
described as gentle natured, protective, playful, eager to please and yery
intelligent. He uses impressive strategies and manipulations to accomplish his goals,
can howl like a wolf when he senses injustice and has the vocal range of an
opera singer. He steals kisses, loves hugs and is pretty much a Velcro dog. He
has never been around children.
Mookie
is bothering the older dog in his home with his constant desire to play. He
needs a younger play companion or a human who will devote a lot of time to him.
Since he is a male and the other dog is a male, he would be better off
being the only dog, or with a female companion.
Contact
the owner, south of Montreal:
Mojo - 4 year old, neutered, blue male.
Mojo is described as a charming boy, excellent with children of all ages, social with dogs and cats. Mojo loves to play with other dogs, but the best time for him is playing ball...could be a future flyball dog!!
